Little Vineyards - Big Wines
Alsace is a region in the Vosges Mountains near the German border. This wine region does not have the typical French subregion, but vineyards situated on the sunniest slopes of the hills have clearly delineated appellations with Grand Cru status.
The most common strains for producing the highest quality wines with Alsace Grand Cru appeal are: riesling, pinot gris, gewürztraminer and muscat. The other varieties are called pinot blanc, pinot gris, auxerrois blanc and pinot noir grown in small amounts.
